What We’re Sipping on This Month

When we lost Will, needless to say that we were lost. I still am. I have not been able to find a constant true North, to keep me aligned with the world now. During the first year, everything was a blur. Memories were made, but I still need to be reminded of memories from that time. I’m still trudging through it all.

However, one thing that was amazing is having a totally cleared out mind. It is still cluttered with grief, but there were holes left in my heart and soul that needed to be filled with the seasonal sounds, smells, and emotions of the holidays. I attended all the holiday craft bazaars and took every free sample and talked to as many people as I could. I was planning a Thank You Brunch for the ladies and moms who were so supportive during the loss of Will, who are still so amazing to me.

One of the amazing products I tried and am now obsessed with is Wild Heart Sipping Vinegar!

I love vinegar! I love all pickled and tangy items. Aside from eggs or weird stuff. But, discovering this amazing product and woman, has been so fun!

Wild Heart Sipping Vinegars are more than a culinary accessory! They're a celebration of Washington state’s bounty, creativity, and mindful craftsmanship. Whether you're popping by the Olympia Farmers Market or exploring their Tenino root system, you'll leave with a bottle (or four) and a new appreciation for vinegar. I use them in every season, from mocktails to recipes, and beyond!!!

That’s what Wild Heart became for me: grounding. A way to add depth and brightness to my days, to the food I made, to the mocktails I stirred up when I didn’t feel like pretending I was “fine.” I began experimenting—pouring a splash over roasted vegetables, mixing it into a cranberry spritz around the holidays, or simply sipping it chilled over ice on slow afternoons. Some days, it was the only thing that felt new, and therefore possible.

My Second Half Self is about that exact thing: learning how to live again after unimaginable loss. And Wild Heart fits into that process more than I ever expected. It’s more than a product. It’s proof that good things can still be discovered—that there’s still flavor and fire to be found in the second half.

So yes, you’ll find Wild Heart Sipping Vinegar in my kitchen, but also here in Back to Life. I’ll be sharing recipes, moments, mocktail creations, and ideas that use it not just as an ingredient, but as a tool to reconnect with simple joy.

Let’s create something together—something tart, tender, and real.

XOXO
